SFB 871 - Modelling Regeneration Supply Chains
The processes summarized under the term regeneration place the highest demands on planning and control as well as the availability of resources.
Operational capacity planning must take into account products to be regenerated that are still in use or in the initial regeneration steps. At this point in time, however, there is a lack of clarity with regard to the required information. This arises from the fact that, although any regeneration steps to be carried out for a product can already become apparent during use or dismantling, the exact type and amount of the resulting capacity loadings are often only determined after the findings have been made. At this point in time, however, planning must be largely completed. The quality of the information regarding a possible capacity load due to the regeneration of a product increases over time, but the planning flexibility of the capacities decreases.
The subproject D1 therefore pursues the following working hypothesis:"If information from the use and the first phases of the regeneration of complex capital goods, which is initially unclear but becomes more precise in the course of the regeneration process, is collected at an early stage, it can be used with suitable mathematical models for efficient capacity planning and coordination in order to meet the extremely high logistical requirements of regenerative processes". For this reason, the subproject D1 is developing a method for capacity planning and coordination for regeneration processes that allows optimizing the logistical targets despite the unclear information.
