In production, a variety of disturbances occur that reduce logistical performance. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) often lack the necessary resources and methods to systematically deal with these manifold problems. The aim of the research project is therefore to develop a software-based system, which shows SMEs a methodical procedure for the sustainable implementation of a preventive and reactive disturbance management.

The system contains a generic cause-effect model with which disturbance variables, including their causes and effects, can be identified and categorized, as well as an individualizable catalogue of measures for the elimination and prevention of disturbance variables. A logistical risk priority number (logRPZ) is used to assess the significance of disturbance variables for the company's logistical objectives. The sustainable anchoring of disturbance management is achieved by means of a maturity model of the implementation of measures and a target-performance comparison of the necessary employee competences. The results are converted into a practical software tool.

The research project is a cooperation of the Industrial Science and Production Design Groups of the Institute for Factory Facilities and Logistics. The results are compiled and validated together with 10 industrial companies.

The IGF project 17696 N of the research association Bundesvereinigung Logistik e. v. BVL, Schlachte 31,28195 Bremen was funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Technologie) through the AiF within the framework of the programme for the promotion of joint industrial research (IGF) in accordance with a resolution of the German Bundestag.
