Success for the Excellence Cluster Proposal PhoenixD, in which the PZH is significantly involved

On 27 September 2018, the application for "PhoenixD - Photonics, Optics, and Engineering - Innovation Across Disciplines" was accepted in the Excellence Strategy of the Federal Government and the Federal States. Combined with other approved clusters of Leibniz University (LUH) and Hannover Medical School (MHH), LUH and MHH may now apply as an Excellence Network.

The commitment for the approved clusters is that they will initially receive annual funding of between 3 and 10 million euros for seven years from 1 January 2019.

In addition to Professor Ludger Overmeyer (ITA), who has a speaker function, all other institute directors of the PZH are also involved in PhoenixD: Professor Peter Nyhuis (IFA), Professor Bernd-Arno Behrens (IFUM), Professor Berend Denkena (IFW), Professor Annika Raatz (match) and Professor Hans Jürgen Maier (IW and provisional IMPT).

Further information can be found in the Leibniz Universität press release on the university''s Excellence Strategy success and the approval of the cluster. A short English video provides you with a first impression on the PhoenixD mission.
